EV charging FAQs

EV charging FAQs.

Answers about smart EV charger installation, solar-aware charging, compliance paperwork and National Grid notification.

Which EV chargers do you commonly install?

E-Fix commonly installs a selection of high quality smart EV chargers including Ohme, myenergi Zappi, Hypervolt and EcoFlow options, depending on the property, vehicle and customer requirements.

Can I combine solar, battery storage and an EV charger?

Yes. A combined setup can help you charge your vehicle more intelligently, especially when paired with smart tariffs, solar-aware charging and suitable load management.

What is the best tariff for charging my car?

Once you have an EV charger installed, you can often access special extra cheap electricity rates, usually overnight. These same low rates can also be used to charge a home battery, helping you save money all year round — especially in winter when solar generation is lower.

Do I need my consumer unit checked before an EV charger is installed?

Yes. Before installation, E-Fix checks the existing electrical setup so the charger can be installed safely, tidily and in line with the property’s electrical capacity.

Can I get government grant assistance for an EV charger?

E-Fix is an OZEV approved installer and can help eligible customers with government grant assistance. Depending on the property and scheme criteria, some customers can save up to £500.

Will I receive certificates after my EV charger installation?

Yes. Upon completion you will receive the relevant installation certificates and Building Regulations compliance paperwork.

Will E-Fix notify National Grid?

Yes. E-Fix will handle the application and notify National Grid on your behalf where required, so the correct process is followed for the installation.
