When your solar panels generate more than the home is using, a battery can store spare energy for later. That can reduce how much electricity you import during evenings or peak-rate periods.

If you already have solar panels, a battery can often be added as a retrofit system. The right approach depends on the existing inverter, generation meter, consumer unit and available installation space.
Smart tariffs and EV charging
Some homes use cheap overnight tariff periods to charge a battery or EV. In winter, when solar generation is lower, that can still help reduce running costs if the system and tariff suit your usage.
